Last summer, I had begun a marketing internship at a KCMG Real Estate Advisors within the Keller Williams franchise. This experience has continued into paid contract work for marketing materials. You can read more about this opportunity in the experience section of the homepage.
This opportunity has afforded me knowledge in terms of working within a small business and as a marketing/ media practitioner. This post highlights some of the best apps and programs I came across within this experience that added to my repertoire.
1. Toggl
This is one of the best organisational apps that I’ve come across within this experience. Toggl is a time tracking application, best used for freelance contractors using time stamps for payment rates or small businesses. It allows for organisation of different projects and clients, and can send time reports to each client. Additionally, users can input their rates for their employers, providing them with means to produce an accurate invoice. They even have a mobile app, so time tracking can be done from both computers and on phone applications. They offer both a free service and paid plans.
2. MailChimp
MailChimp is a email marketing service. I used them in order to create monthly email campaigns for the realtor’s listings and advertisement of services to prospective clients. This paired greatly with Cole Realty Resource, a program that provided email addresses of potential buyer leads in the area. This resource was great in order to learn about accurately identifying and targeting consumers.
3. Canva
While I have always preferred to use Adobe products for design (they provide more of a professional standard) for simple design projects like Facebook posts or postcard designs, Canva works very well. It was recommended by my internship supervisor as a cost efficient alternative. Again, this program offers either a free or paid subscription, and so far I have been able to use the free version to fulfill my design needs.
4. Google Drive & Dropbox
I have always used Google Drive for school and uni assignments, I loved that I could log onto any computer or device and continue my work. Also, shared documents were great for collaboration and shared viewing. Dropbox is quite similar. Both of these applications function well for working remotely and for document/ file sharing. They had made this element of contract work easier.
